Bärenreiter Praha – 25 let ve službách české hudby

For the past quarter century Bärenreiter Praha has been fulfilling the calling for which it was established in December 1991 – to publish major works of Czech music in the closest possible contact with the environment from which they arose and to open their way to the whole world through the international distribution network of the Bärenreiter publishing group.

In 2016, with 671 new publications, 1,083 reprints, and more than 3,000 active titles in its catalogue, Bärenreiter Praha stands strong as the largest global supplier of sheet music for live performances of the works of Czech composers the likes of Antonín Dvořák, Leoš Janáček, Bedřich Smetana, Josef Suk, and Bohuslav Martinů.

Regardless of these numbers, quantity has never been our priority. Faithful to the philosophy of the Bärenreiter brand, we strive to publish scholarly critical editions of the highest excellence that also reflect a profound understanding of the demands of live art and current performance practice. Another significant part of our programme naturally consists of educational literature that covers practically the full range of instruments.

For 25 years we have tended both to the treasure that is Czech music and to the education and upbringing of a new generation of musicians. Thank you for joining us on this journey!
