Miroslav Srnka – Make No Noise

Chamber opera Make No Noise composed by Czech composer Miroslav Srnka (represented by Bärenreiter) received its premiere as part of the Munich Opera Festival on 28 June in the Pavillon 21 Mini Opera Space. It’s a chamber opera about the search for communication between people. The Ensemble Modern and soloists from the Bavarian State Opera performed, conducted by Christopher Ward. Make No Noise tells the story of a young woman who is caring for a man seriously injured in a fire on an oil platform. Neither has any words for the events which have altered their lives abruptly. Make No Noise is the story of a coming together, the beginning of a communication, a healing. The opera is directed by the young Australian director Matthew Lutton; the libretto, after Isabel Coixet, is by Tom Holloway.
